Ministry of Education updated school curricula. The Ministry of Education and Science has revised the Typical Educational Program for students in grades 5-9 of the New Ukrainian School. This document significantly alters approaches to the distribution of educational time, assessment, and student support amidst the war.

Legislative framework established for student grants. The Verkhovna Rada has fully adopted a draft law on the model of state support for students pursuing higher education. Alongside state procurement and state-funded places, state grants are now institutionalized within the system.

Crucial to maintain contact with children abroad, – Prime Minister. It is vital for Ukraine to sustain educational connections with children who have relocated outside the country. According to Koretsky, the nation’s future lies with its children; therefore, Ukraine must actively strive for them, nurture their talents, and ensure their happy lives back home.

Salaries for experienced educators to increase to 28,500 UAH. This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky during the traditional annual conference “Serpneva-2026.” He stated that supporting educators is the government’s primary and unconditional priority.

Teachers’ work should become easier, – Minister of Education. Minister Andriy Butenko identified easing the workload of teachers as his priority. He noted that not only salary increases but also the well-being of educators are important. Consequently, he emphasized the need for de-bureaucratization in education.

Mathematics must remain a compulsory subject for the NMT, – Minister. This conviction was expressed by the Minister of Education and Science, Andriy Butenko. He acknowledged that the discussion around excluding mathematics from the NMT has stirred public debate, but stressed that all applicants should take this subject.

A new draft law on teacher salaries is planned for completion within six months. The Ministry of Education and Science anticipates developing a draft law concerning the remuneration system for pedagogical staff. The document is intended to outline a payment model, have a prospect of adoption by the Verkhovna Rada, and be financially secured.

Bureaucratic burden on teachers has not decreased in 2026. The situation regarding superfluous duties, activities, and reports imposed on educators has not improved. This was reported by the educational ombudsperson, Nadiia Leshchyk, commenting on the Minister of Education and Science’s statement about teacher overload.

Master’s students will also receive tuition grants starting this year. The first-level grant will amount to 27,000 UAH. To qualify for the second-level grant of 40,000 UAH, results from two tests among the General Educational Aptitude Test (GEAT), the Foreign Language External Independent Evaluation (FLEIE), the External Professional Qualification Evaluation (EPQE), or the External Disciplinary Qualification Evaluation (EDQE) must exceed 160 points.

The base grant amount for bachelor’s students has risen to 18,500 and 27,000 UAH. To receive the first-level grant, achieving at least 150 points in two subjects on the NMT is sufficient. For the second-level grant, applicants needed to score at least 170 points in two NMT subjects.
